From the Rectors Desk

While it may seem early to be thinking about it, our Annual Meeting is only a few short months away and along with this meeting will come a new slate of officers for the church – including two new church wardens, as both Elaine and Val will be stepping down after many years of faithful service. So we will be looking for some folks to step into these roles. To be a warden of the church is a pretty unique opportunity to serve the community of faith, and can take different shapes depending on the skills and interests of the person called to the position. There are two wardens – one appointed by myself, and one is elected at the annual meeting by the people and yet the position responsibilities are shared equally between them. My hope for the coming year will be that we can find two wardens and two to come alongside as deputies so the work can be shared among the five of us working together as a cohesive team to ensure the day-to-day running of the parish and connections with the diocese.

So I invite you to start thinking and praying if perhaps you are called to do this work, and if you are interested in exploring or learning more about what it is to be a warden, please speak to myself, Elaine, Val or Marg (as deputy) to see what it's all about. There is also a Wardens' Workshop being offered in Nanaimo at St. Paul’s on November 4th, which could be an opportunity to learn more and see the bigger picture of how wardens, treasurers and the diocese work together. So if you are at all interested please do let me know!

We will also be looking for anyone who might be interested in being on parish council and learning more about how the ins and outs of the parish work, so please start praying – perhaps you are being called or are feeling nudged to encourage another. Again this may seem early, but February will be here before we know it and seeing as we will be looking at a shift in leadership, it is always good to start praying and thinking about these things early.

Peace as we continue the journey together,

Kirsten +

Update on Kat

I have heard from Kat and her surgery seems to have gone well. She is quite sore and healing will take some time but she should be home in the next day or two to do the work of recovery. Please keep Kat in your thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks and if all goes well she will be with us again mid-November.
