OUR NOTICES:
Dear Friends,
This week I have been doing some time traveling in my planning – as I have jumped ahead to Lent and Holy Week in hopes of creating something meaningful for our communities… and this year we will be trying a few new things in our worship together. First off, we will be kicking off the season with a Combined Pancake Supper at St. Mary’s on Tuesday, Feb 17th from 5pm – 7pm, and the next day we will gather at St. Edmunds for an Ash Wednesday service at 4PM.
Once we get into the swing of Lent, and thanks to Sandra Leigh, Lay Worship Leader at St. Edmunds, we will be offering a weekly Service of Contemplative Prayer on Tuesdays during Lent on February 24th at 1pm (SEE ATTACHED POSTER). This will be a quiet, simple service – a time of prayer and stillness where together we settle our hearts and minds to rest in God’s presence with us and within us. The real beauty of this practice is it is simple – there are no special words, things to remember or particular way to perform – it is simply a time of being together to listen for the Holy in our midst. Lent is a time when we are called to deepen our relationship with God, and Centering prayer is the method we are offering this year. We will meet every Tuesday during Lent at St. Edmunds at 1pm, you are welcome to come to one service or all of the services – so please do consider joining us if you can.
Now the details of Holy Week are still in the works, but with Palm Sunday being a 5th Sunday, there will be a few differences in how the week unfolds so I welcome your prayers as the final details come together. This is a Holy time, a sacred time and a time where being together in community is a real blessing – so let us be open to where the Spirit leads.
Peace,
Kirsten +
ANNUAL VESTRY MEETING 2026:
Recently in the lectionary readings, we heard the words from Micah calling us to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God. And while many of us do this on a regular basis, at the end of February we have a unique opportunity to support another walk – that will help us answer this call.
Every February, a nationwide fundraiser, occurs to raise awareness to the homelessness crisis in our across Canada. The Coldest Night of the Year is a walk (either 2kms or 5kms) that raises money for folks in our community who need our help. The funds raised will support the work of Oceanside Island Crisis Care Society and directly help those who are hungry, lonely, hurting and unhoused right here in Oceanside.
This year, I have decided to do the walk and have created a team called “Oceanside Anglicans” in hopes that others may come along and join Cris and I in this endeavor. If you would like to sign up for the walk and be part of the Oceanside Anglicans Team sign up by following this link https://cnoy.org/register and be sure to search for “Oceanside Anglicans” as the team name!
If you would like to donate to this cause and sponsor those of us walking you can do so by following this secure link and the prompts HERE
In our community – Roseleagh Lalonde is also walking and you can support her by clicking Here
All are welcome to join in the walk, to support and to pray for the important work of the Island Crisis Care and all those who are preparing to walk for the Longest Night of the Year.
If you have any questions or concerns or need help navigating the links – please do let me know!
