OUR NOTICES
FROM THE RECTOR'S DESK:
Friends I think we are finally into the days of summer… the roads are busy with campers and RV’s, and many of us are either away or planning a little R&R. Just mention the word summer and most people begin to imagine the beach, cool drinks, and anything but the “normal” routine. And we are seeing this in our churches too… Sunday attendance always dips a little during the summer months as people plan holidays, get busy with their gardens and do what they can to avoid the heat of the day. And while this makes sense to some degree, this can also be a real set back for our church finances and volunteer base, but also for our spiritual lives too.
All too often, we see summer time similar to children on summer break from classes. We look for a change of routine, a lessening of tasks and more freedom to relax and go with the flow of summer. And so we see people taking a break from church (not just when traveling), giving up on personal devotions and prayers, and taking a vacation not just from the hustle and bustle of normal life but also taking a break from God.
But my friends the reality is that even though God rested on the 7th day, it is good and healthy to take time for Sabbath rest and do things that restore our souls and our minds – all of these things should still include our relationship with the Holy in some way. A walk along the beach can be an opportunity for wonder and thanksgiving for the beauty and intricacy of creation. Or perhaps a talk with a new friend in a new place reminds us that everyone we meet is a reflection of Jesus in the world. For God loves to see his people getting the rest and recreation they need. But don’t go on vacation from the Holy one working in the world and in you. So take heart, and keep worshiping, keep praying, and keep being Gods love where ever you find yourself during these summer months.
Peace,
Kirsten +

EMAIL SCAMS:
This week we have received a note from the Diocese reminding us all to be extra vigilant when it comes to email scams and phishing attempts. Please be diligent about checking email addresses before you respond to any request for information. People are getting trickier and using real names with fake emails to try and gain access to personal information, accounts or money. So if you receive a message that seems a bit strange – please give the person a call to confirm before clicking or sending anything. Also to be very clear – Rev. Kirsten and the parish office will NEVER ask for gift cards, money or any personal information via email without talking to you in person first. Stay safe friends!
CHURCH PAINTING FUNDRAISER:
Thus far, we have raised a total of $1380.00 for the Church Windows Project that require re-painting. However, a total of $4800.00 total is needed to cover the cost. If you have not done so already, please consider making a donation to the church to help offset these costs. We will make available special envelopes for donation during coffee time or. if preferred, use your own envelope and write "painting" on it and put in the Sunday collection. We will do this for the next 2 Services .
