Hilkka Bailey, a founding member of St. Mary’s Nanoose Bay, has died. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday August 19th. Her daughters Cheryl and Dianne have been in contact with the church. A card has been sent to them on behalf of St. Mary’s but if you would like to write a personal card, please see Selinde or KAT for the address of one of her daughters. It is anticipated that there will be a service here at St. Mary’s at some point in the future. We will keep you posted.

Quiet Garden – a morning of contemplation. We are looking for anyone who would like to offer their yard for a Quiet Garden.  All you need to do is offer your garden space; Trefor will offer the program. It’s not about having a perfect garden, it’s about offering a space where people can gather in the peace of God’s creation. Please speak to Trefor or Selinde. Thank you!

Coming up in a few weeks – PILGRIMAGE!  When Selinde reported back about her pilgrimage experience in Europe this summer, people shared with Selinde that they wished they could embark on a pilgrimage so she’s arranged a mini experience of pilgrimage for Tuesday, September 11th; 1-4pm at Bethlehem Centre in Nanaimo.  We will meet at 1:00pm for a short prayer before heading off to walk around Westwood Lake (about 1.5 hours). We will end at the Centre with a Communion Service. People who can’t or don’t want to walk that distance are invited to walk the labyrinth or enjoy the grounds.   Please register with KAT in the office. A donation of $5 - $10 would be appreciated.

A big shout out to everyone who helped with the Community Dinner on Monday night! We had (# here) people enjoy a pulled pork dinner to rave reviews. NCS had fresh produce from their community garden available for a donation.

Mark your calendar for September – Monday, September 17th!  A little bird told me it was Schnitzel et al  for early Octoberfest!

September 2018 Calendar – is ready for pickup at the back of the church.  Plus ATTACHED is a copy if you would like to print it.
