FROM THE DESK OF THE RECTOR

How wonderful to worship together in person this past Sunday!!  I was a bit nervous to begin with, but once the service got going, I felt right at home and carried by the Spirit.  And to look out and to see and hear people responding – well, it couldn’t have been better. The only thing missing was the singing and the people who were not able to attend for whatever reason.  I look forward to the day when everyone who wants to, feels comfortable to attend.

In my sermon I spoke about the limitations of a recorded service and I neglected to say that I recognize there will always be people who can’t join in person.  And that is why we are continuing to record part of the service and email the link out on Tuesdays when KAT is back in the office. We want you to feel included.  And remember that I am ready and willing to bring you communion in your home.  Please just ask!

There is so much going on in the world. It can be overwhelming and scary to watch the news.  So always keep in mind the good news.  The news we read about in our bibles and hear about each Sunday.  I love how Helen Keller puts it, “Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.”  This is the best news.  For as we pay attention to, and nurture, our personal relationship with God, we become the people we were created to be, the ones who participate in the overcoming of suffering in the world.

Thanks be to God!

Flower Ministry and “In Memory” Dedications

Each Sunday you will see stunning flower arrangements in the sanctuary created by various members of the parish.  If you would like to participate in this ministry, please contact Elaine Cowan to learn more. And if you would like to dedicate flowers on a particular Sunday in memory of a loved one, or to celebrate a special event, please either let KAT in the office know or you can fill out the 2021 Altar Flowers sheet on the table at entrance of the church.  By donation.  We will need the wording of the dedication for the bulletin.

Rentals Committee Meeting - has been postponed until Wednesday, September 1st at 1:00pm in the church hall.

2021 Parish Directory.  We still have copies available and will be at the back of the church this Sunday.  Cost is by donation.

PLEASE fill out the NEW Readings Roster sign-up sheet for the next couple of weeks for the readings, psalm and prayers of the people

The sign-up sheet is located on the table in the entrance of the church.  We need two 'bubbled' people per service.  And what is 'bubbled', you ask…it is either a couple and /or single readers who are comfortable reading together until Dr. Bonnie Henry’s Phase 4 announcement in early September.  One will do the psalm and prayers of the people while the other does the two scripture readings.
