Selinde was delighted to see every handout but one gone on Sunday. Thank you to everyone who took home the print out.  Legacy of Love –  a practical way to support your loved ones to prepare a memorial service for you with confidence. Once you’ve filled it out, remember to return it to the office for safe keeping until such time as it will be needed.  Thank you!!

NO MORE CHOIR PRACTICE until fall on HUB Wednesdays in June or over the summer, but everyone is invited to join us at 9:30 each Sunday.  Last HUB LUNCH next week and then we take a break until September. Bible Study will continue through the summer with Trefor.

Cards by Rita! Our own talented artist, Rita Gibson is making greeting cards made from her own watercolours available to parishioners. Check out the card rack in the hall. Proceeds to benefit St. Mary’s. Thank you, Rita!

Selinde will be out of the office next week. Back in time for Sunday service. Call Val, your People’s Warden, if you have a pastoral emergency.  (FYI – all important contact numbers are on the front of your weekly Sunday service bulletin – take yours home and clip that section out to put in your purse/wallet or on your fridge!)

BIG SUCCESSES:  Our Community Dinner this past Monday was attended by about 110 people and over 80 folks came an hour later to hear a concert by the A Capella Choir and the V.I. Choir directed by our friend and neighbour, Patricia Plumley. We received over $600 in donations which will be put towards improvements in our Memorial Garden. Wow! THANK YOU to all the people who worked so hard in the heat to make both events so successful and enjoyable!

As part of the St. Mary’s community we’d like you to be part of our Parish Directory so parishioners can get to know who you are and how to contact you!!    The Directory is being updated NOW.  Onnig is willing to take photos (at no cost to you) in his home between now and June 30. Please contact him directly for an appointment. Phyllis is willing to take photos (at no cost to you) after church services on either June 23 or June 30. Please contact her directly to book either day. If you wish to include your contact information with your picture or update existing contact information please email this to Deana Thomson or call her and leave a message.

LOOKING AHEAD

1)      JULY 6  9:30 – 4:00pm, St. Peter’s Quamichan (Duncan) 94 Calls to Action – Come and learn about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report and how it relates to the church and its relationship with Indigenous people. Free. Lunch provided. RSVP by July 2.

2)      SHAWNIGAN LAKE SCHOOL FUNDRAISER; July 31st. Invite your friends, those up here in Oceanside, and those down Island. This is a rare opportunity to see the grounds of this exclusive private school in full bloom and meet the master gardener, Eduardo. The museum is nothing to sneeze at and covers over 100 years of interesting history. The organ concert in the stunning chapel will be a world class performance; and the tea afterwards, simply delightful. What can we say?! We have a very special day planned for everyone who comes.  The cost is only $35 per person ($50 if you want to ride the bus both ways) and all the proceeds benefit St. Mary’s.

3)      Introduction to Compassionate Communication by Selinde Krayenhoff (a glimpse into her past self and ongoing passion).  Tuesday, August 6th from 1:00–5:00pm.  Mark your calendar. More information to follow closer to the date.

LOOKING WAY AHEAD!

The We Together Conference will be held at St Paul’s in Nanaimo this year.  They are looking for people to extend hospitality on Friday Sept 27th, 2019. Please read your NOTICES or see Selinde for more info.
