Note from the Rector

Well after over a week of rest and recovery, I am looking forward to being among you all again on Sunday!  This Sunday is an important one for those of us who follow the church calendar as it is Pentecost Sunday - one that I sure didn't want to miss!

The name itself comes from the Greek word pentekoste meaning fiftieth, which should be no surprise seeing as we celebrate Pentecost 50 days after Easter.  Pentecost is the day we remember that God sent the Holy Spirit to the disciples in a pretty dramatic way, just as Jesus had promised.  It also marks the beginning of the Christian Churches' mission to the world, so is often celebrated as the birthday of the church.

This is truly a day of wonder, celebration and fun so I hope to see you all at Church on Sunday wearing colours (red if in doubt) that remind you of the Holy Spirit as we celebrate this day together!    My thanks to you all for your prayers and support while I have recovered, and I will see you again very soon.
